Bipasha Basu loves to be called Sexy

Bollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu may be playing the deglamourised role of a housewife in her first Bengali movie but the actress says she is happy with the “sexy” tag as a girl-next-door look never interested her.

"I love being sexy and I would be happy if people call me sexy even when I turn 100. I would love to be called a sexy grandmother. The tag has never bothered me," said Bipasha.

"If a woman says she does not want to be called attractive then she is foolish. I like being exclusive, the girl-next-door image has never interested me. It is too boring," the actress, who started her Bollywood career with bold characters in "Jism" and "Raaz", says.

She, however, believes "sexiness" is not only related to having a good body.

"Sexiness is not only about having a great body. It is about how you carry yourself, your confidence, your self respect, these help you look attractive. I am sexy with a mind. It is a complete package."

The Bengali beauty is portraying the character of Radhika in Rituparno Ghosh’s movie "Shob Charitro Kalponik", which deals with love and loss through the story of a woman,
who goes on a path of self discovery after the death of her poet-husband.

The film sees Bipasha depicting the role of a "mature" woman in a saree - a character which does not come her way in the industry very often.

"Being a Bengali, I always wanted to do a film in my native language. My parents have grown up watching Bengali cinema and it was my father’s wish that I do a Bengali film
since I came into acting," she says about her first movie in the language.

"It is a very deep and matured role; that is why I was attracted to the character. It is multi-layered. I have never done something like that before. Unfortunately, you don’t come across such characters in Hindi cinema because the audience demand is different here," says Bipasha.

The film, also starring Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, has already garnered critical appreciation and has been screened at the prestigious Durban Film Festival
recently.

Bipasha Basu loves being sexy

Bollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu may be playing a typical housewife in her first Bengali movie "Shob Charitro Kalponik" but the actress says she is happy with the ‘sexy’.

Bipasha Basu refuses to smoke

The sultry actress Bipasha Basu recently refused to smoke on-screen while shooting for a song in her upcoming flick ‘Pankh.’

Sudipto Chattopadhyay, the director of Pankh wanted Bipasha to smoke on screen for a vital sequence. However, Bipasha flatly refused as she does not encourage smoking and hates it. She was not in favor of the scene and if she smokes, it meant that she would be promoting smoking. Sudipto even gave her the option of holding a cigarette, but she refused that as well. Sudipto understood her point of view and agreed to shoot the scene differently.”

Bipasha confirmed the news “I don’t smoke and I don’t encourage smoking. Unless it’s absolutely essential to smoke for my role, I wouldn’t agree to do it. In ‘Pankh,’ it was not essential, hence I refused. I had also refused to smoke in one of my earlier films, ‘Corporate.’ If my role is that of an addict, then I will do whatever the character and the role demands.”

Bipasha Basu says no to Salman Khan’s Dus ka Dum

Katrina Kaif may work with beau Salman’s rivals, but it is a big No No for Bipasha Basu. The bold beauty believes in supporting her live-in partner John Abraham through thick and thin. Bipasha has refused being a part of Salman’s TV show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ for John, who does not have a sound relation with Salman Khan.

Ajay Devgan and Fardeen Khan are all set to appear for this show hosted by Salman but Bipasha, the leading actress of an upcoming film staring thw other two will not be there.

Bipasha Basu to host Female Model Hunt

With several foreign reality shows being abashedly copied and made into desi money churners, couch potatoes are sure spoilt for choice.

And joining the ever-growing league of reality drama is the much-watched “America’s Next Top Model” that will soon have its Indian counterpart. Produced by Shah Rukh’s production house Red Chilies, the show will see Bipasha Basu stepping into Tyra Banks’ shoes as she gets set to don the host avatar.

Following the same concept, the show will have several beauties competing for the best model’s title. The show will have a number of women fight it out for the title of the Best Model to get a chance to start their career in the modelling industry. There will be minor changes in the pattern of the show as it is catering to the Indian audience and the show will be called the Female Model Hunt.

The show will go on floors next month. The format will have around nine to thirteen episodes and will start with 10-14 contestants. In each episode, one contestant will be eliminated. There will also be a panel of judges, which are still under the working process. The judges to be chosen will be from the modelling industry.

Bipasha Basu is the face of FA Men Xtreme

Bipasha Basu unhappy with dubbing of Sob Charitro Kalponik

When all seems to be going fine with the dusky, cat-eyed beauty Bipasha Basu, there is some grumbling whisper from her. Her Aa Dekhen Zara is set for release and is attracting enough attention to lift hopes for a fair success, Bipasha’s Bengali film Sob Charitro Kalponik is giving her sleepless nights.

Bipasha is very dissatisfied the way dubbing of Sob Charitro Kalponik is being carried out.

Directed by Rituparno Ghosh, the film is a promising venture starring the dusky beauty. Ghosh had earlier said about the film, “I want to make a film that does her (Bipasha) proud. I genuinely believe that we haven’t seen even the tip of her talent.”

But she is upbeat about the future course of events. Busy like a hurricane promoting her upcoming Aa Dekhe Zara.

Her next film Lamhaa releases by the end of this year. In the meantime, she is to start shooting for All The Best.

Good news for Bipasha fans…

The hot actress Bipasha Basu has been chosen to be the face of Gili diamonds for its exclusive collection.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and Gili offers a wide range of diamonds to choose from. I hope this association is amiable and mutually profitable,” Bipasha said in a press statement.

The brand Gili had earlier been acquired by Gitanjali Group, one of India’s largest integrated diamond and jewellery manufacturer and retailer.

Bipasha Basu reveals why she has problems with Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is not very popular with her female colleagues is something which has always been hinted at but never spoken about openly. But actress Bipasha Basu has decided to break her silence.

The actress revealed that she does have a problem with Katrina. We all know that Malaika Arora Khan and Kareena Kapoor too cannot stand her. Bipasha did not exactly go into the details of what went wrong between them but hinted that it could also be because of the feud between their respective boyfriends, Salman Khan and John Abraham.

City of Dreams to be the first bollywood musical

Morani Brothers' and Ashish Gidwani Productions' City of Dreams- is going to be the first bollywood musical, which will be premiered on June 13 at Mumbai's St. Andrews Auditorium. Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Karan Johar, Urmila Matonkar, Arjun Rampal and Rakhi Sawant will be a part it.

The musical drama stars Nasreen Morani in the central role and is based on the story of a small-town girl who comes to Mumbai with stars in her eyes to become an actress. The two-hour extravaganza boasts of larger-than-life sets and props and is jointly directed by Gautam Joglekar and Mohammed Morani.

All the stars will be seen as narrators in an audio-visual playing intermittently. Five more shows are lined up in Mumbai.

Bipasha Basu at the launch of Alcome

Bipasha Basu was at the capital to launch the entry of the US-based perfume brand Alcome Perfumes & Cosmetics into the Indian markets.

Looking stunning she chose to speak to the press only about the brand, ignoring all other questions.

She said: 'It is an appropriate question. It is a wrong day to be discussing films. I would answer these questions some other time. I am here for Alcome today.'

Although she did not entertain any questions from the journalists present there, the actress, riding high on Race success, was quite friendly with the photographers.

About the brand, she said: ''Alcome' is a must buy. It is passionate and stylish. It has different fragrances for different moods. I like it and that's why I'm here”.

And Bipasha MISSed John too much

Karan Johar is busy doing shoots for Dostana at Miami with his unit. But his Dostana unit (Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra) in Miami has been seeing a sea of visitors. And the latest to join them is none other than Bipasha Basu.


First it was the Bachchans. They were missing their son Abhishek and so they landed up in Miami to be with him on the occasion of Jaya Bachchan's birthday earlier this month. Then his wife Aishwarya stayed back to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.


Well, it seems that Bipasha was missing her boyfriend and so she decided to go over and spend some quality time with him. In fact, with John parked in Miami, Bipasha too has been shooting around the globe for Siddharth Anand's film opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She has been shooting in Italy and Switzerland and is believed to have flown in to Miami for a couple of days before setting off for Bangkok, where she has another unit waiting for her.

Bipasha Basu to follow Dimple Kapadia

Hot bollywood damsel Bipasha Basu is going to follow the Dimple Kapadia way. The actress is believed to have given the go ahead to star in a film opposite a much younger Neil Nitin Mukesh for a forthcoming film, quite like what Dimple did in Dil Chahta Hai with Akshaye Khanna.

Bipasha is likely to play the older love interest of Neil Nitin Mukesh in a film by newcomer Jehangir Surti. The actress feels it is too soon to talk about the film and her role in it, but it hasn't stopped Neil from excitedly admitting that he is cast in the film opposite Bipasha and is extremely happy about the fact.

The actor feels that their characters in the film will justify their presence. Incidentally, Bipasha was initially not too keen to act in the film. But it seems that boyfriend John Abraham, who is a friend of the director and had read the script, managed to persuade her to do so.

Meanhwile, Neil, who made a wonderful debut with Johnny Gaddar, is again playing a character with a lot of shades in Sudhir Mishra's Tere Kya Hoga Johnny.
