Hayden Panettiere snubs college education

Hayden PanettiereActress Hayden Panettiere has revealed she has no intentions of going to college.

The ‘Heroes’ star, who features as a college student in the hit American sci-fi series, said she used to be drawn towards an university education.

But the 20-year-old confessed enacting a student for the screen was enough for her because Hollywood teaches her enough lessons already.

"I always wanted to go to college but the show happened to start in a pretty pivotal period, when you have thoughts of going to college,” said Hayden.

“It was just such a success and it is what I love to do. I would love to take some classes that I really enjoy, but I think college is a learning experience for yourself as a person and it’s about being on your own for the first time," she added.

Heroes invited to Oscars screenplay

Director Samir Karnik is over the moon after he got an Oscars invite for a copy of the screenplay of 'Heroes' for its archives. Karnik received the letter from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, informally known as the Oscars.

An elated Karnik told : 'I'm sending them the script right away. I can't believe that the Oscars archives has invited our screenplay. Maybe because it is an original screenplay. That's why they invited it.' The scripts in the Oscars collection are made accessible for research purposes to student filmmakers, writers and actors.

Impressed with Preity Zinta's performance in 'Heroes', Karnik is all set to cast her in his next film 'Formula No.44'. 'She was wonderful in 'Heroes'. Now we're keen on casting her in a diametrically opposite role of an action-heroine in 'Formula No.44'. She has never done action before. She'll be quite cool in it because she's half a tomboy.'

He has already finalised Bobby Deol, Vatsal Seth and Sohail Khan for the new film. 'I've already written half the script. My core team is already in place. And Binod Pradhan will be my cinematographer as long as he wants to work with me. Right now my producer Vikas Kapoor is keen on getting the project in place. We're co-producing the film.'

Preity Zinta to impress audiences in Heroes

Preity Zinta is set to impress audiences in a new role- as a demure Punjabi girl who is a war widow of Salman Khan in the movie Heroes.

Asked why she agreed to do the film, Preity said, “I was at this phase in my life where I was refusing every film that came my way. I just wanted to do something different. And one fine day Sameer just walked in and narrated the script to me. I jumped one meter above my chair in excitement and said, ‘this is it’.

The film, directed by Sameer Karnik, features an ensemble cast that additionally includes Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan, Dino Morea, Mithun Chakraborty, Riya Sen, Amrita Arora and Vatsal Seth. It is slotted for release on October 24.

Preity plays Salman’s war widow –the sole winner of the family who single-handedly strives to bring up her son and keep the home fires burning.

Being the perfectionist she is Preity made a dedicated choice to go attend Anupam Kher’s acting school and learn how to portray the character of a rustic Punjabi woman. Anupam Kher tutored her on how to imbibe the local dialect and body language.

Samir Says, “Priety who is known for her bubbly, enthusiastic self worked on her body language and observed the locals there to portray the demure, silent but strong woman that her character is in the film. If you ask me, I think this is one of her best performances to date.”

One of the challenges Preity successfully overcame was to drive a tractor. The film has been shot on location in Ladakh, Chandigarh and Delhi. After Heroes, Preity will be seen in Deepa Mehta’s Heaven on Earth followed by Jahnu Barua’s Har Pal. She reportedly also plays cameos in Main Aur Mrs Khanna and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Preity goes to School

Acting wise, the pretty Preity Zinta may not exactly be a (late) Smita Patil or a Konkona Sen Sharma, but she has proved her histrionic capabilities with films like SANGHARSH (1999), KYA KEHNA (2000), VEER ZAARA (2004) and recently in Rituparno Ghosh's THE LAST LEAR. But that does not stop Preity from honing her acting skills further as proved by the preparations she has put in for her role in Samir Karnik's upcoming Diwali release, HEROES.

Preity plays a widow in HEROES and the role required her to speak with an almost perfect Punjabi accent. Now Preity is from Shimla and educated at a public school there and so despite knowing Punjabi she was not fluent in the language. So she went to a top acting school and got herself trained and tutored for the same. The results are there for all to see in the promos of HEROES, where Preity looks every inch a part of the character.

Amrita upset and feel unjust

Amrita Arora is very upset with the makers of her upcoming film Heroes. And she does seem to have a good reason for being miffed. Amrita had a meaty role comprising eight scenes and also a song with Sohail Khan in the film.

However, four out of the eight scenes have been completely chopped off and even the song is no longer part of the film. As a result, Amrita has now stopped promoting the film as she is obviously upset with the director and the producer of the film.

She did not attend the press conference and media interviews held at Mehboob Studios recently and did not even attend the Lalbaughcha Raja promotional event to make her disapproval evident.

When contacted, Amrita refused to comment on the issue.

When contacted, Samir Karnik, the director of Heroes had a different story to tell. “There is nothing like that. During the press conference of Heroes, Amrita was shooting for Golmaal Returns and during the Lalbaughcha Raja event, she was unwell. I am sure she will attend the next press conference that we are having on September 18. And the issue of chopping her song doesn't arise as she had no song in the film with Sohail to begin with” .

She had a pivotal part in the multi-starrer, which also stars Slaman Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mithun Chakraborthy, Preity Zinta and others. Amrita was very excited about the film when she signed it. She had also shot for a foot-tapping song at Madh Island with Sohail Khan.
She was in for a rude shock to learn that quite a few of her scenes have been chopped and even the song ‘Deewana’ for which she had worked so hard has been chopped to maintain the length of the film.”

Salman and Priety together this Diwali

Salman Khan and Preity Zinta are being seen together in Heroes Two years after being paired together in Jaane Mann. Incidentally both the films are Diwali releases and while Jaane Mann was released on 20th October, 2006, Heroes is arriving exactly two years later on 24th October 2008.

Salman and Preity would be hoping though that Heroes does well since Jaane Mann of being a well made film, was massacred at the box office due to King Khan’s Don.

They play cameos in the film and are a part of one of the many segments in Heroes. There is this entire Sunny Deol-Bobby Deol track and also the one where Mithun and Dino come together. The film basically tells the journey of two youngsters (Sohail Khan and Vatsal Seth) as they come across all these 'real heroes'.''

However, even though Salman and Preity aren't seen throughout the length of the film, the couple does spell success, as witnessed from the films they have done in the past which have gone on to be box office successes. When they came together for the first time, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, the film was a hit. Their next outing, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke was successful as well. Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha was a flop though but Preity has a small role in the film. They looked good together in Jaane Mann and it would certainly have been a success had the film not collided with Don.''

Directed by Samir Karnik, Heroes would be Salman Khan's second film in one month itself. A fortnight earlier, i.e. 10th October, Salman would also be seen in a special appearance in Hello.

Salman becomes Sardar for Heroes

Salman Khan may have almost finished two decades in the film industry but he still keeps on getting newer and unexplored challenges even now.

The handsome actor who has played a variety of characters in his films would now be doing something which he hasn't done before. Hold your breath, Bollywood's very own bad boy would be seen playing a Sardar for the first time in his upcoming film Heroes directed by Sameer Karnik.

One casual look and you may feel, he is just another Sardar wearing the turban and sporting a beard. But a closer look and you will see those eyes that drive a zillion female fans crazy.

Apart from Salman, the film in question, Heroes, stars Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Preity Zinta, Amrita Arora, Riya Sen and Mithun Chakraborty. Sallu plays a military official in this road-trip film which is apparently inspired by the cult classic The Motorcycle Diaries. In fact, to make the look more authentic, Sallu even grew his own beard for three weeks and has really worked hard on getting the look right.

One thing is for sure, when the film hits the box-office, die-hard Sallu Fans will surely queue up to see their favorite 'HERO' in his brand new look. source
