Asin injured while saving a Kid

Asin’s career has taken an upward turn but the golden heart girl dosent let success get into her head. The Southern beauty proved that behind the beautiful and elegant looks, lies a noble heart, too.

Asin was passing by in her car when star saw a kid about to come in the way of speeding cars. She jumped and managed to shave the life of the boy. But in doing so, she fell on the road and got her hands injured. Having done her good-deed, she sped off.

Next morning Asin woke up with swollen and painful hands. She was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where the doctors diagnosed torn ligaments in both her hands.

“I woke up in the most acute pain. I couldn`t move either of my hands, not even to brush my teeth! They had gone numb. My biceps and triceps got affected and my hands had swollen to the sizes of balloons,” Asin said with a terrified laugh.

Asked whether the kid’s parents got in touch with her, she said, “Maybe they didn`t know who I was. But I didn`t do it to be thanked. I did what came naturally to me.”

The showstoppers at the Azeem Khan fashion show at a suburban hotel on Saturday night were none of the models who took the ramp with the designer’s new couture line, but former Miss World Yuktaa Mookhey and, yes, her Prince Charming.

Yukta, whose run in Bollywood after she won the beauty pageant in 1999 was not as spectacular as Aishwarya Rai’s, has been pretty low on the social circuit after her last release, Mem-sahab — Lost In A Mirage bombed at the box office this June. But she sprang a surprise when she showed up for the fashion show dressed in a stunning navy blue gown and with a handsome man on her arm.

Inquiries revealed that her suave and dashing escort was Prince Tuli, 36, a financial analyst from New York whose family owns a business empire in central India that runs into hotels and resorts, schools and colleges, malls and motors. Not much else is known of him, not even whether Prince Tuli belongs to any of the erstwhile royal families of the country or Prince is just his name.

But Yuktaa, 29, and he are close friends on a popular social networking site. They were inseparable on Saturday night and when BT asked if she and Prince Tuli were a couple, the actress and model smiled and said, “I don’t want to talk about it now.” But rumours are that the two will be getting married soon and it is believed that the girl from Mulund will be settling down in Delhi after she ties the knot.

Shilpa Hurt, Upset & Alligated

Shilpa Shetty is kind of hugely upset. This is payback time. And the gorgeous actress and television host was not holding back any. First things first, she had nothing with her UK protagonist Jade Goody coming down to Mumbai for her reality television show, nor anything to do with Goody’s sudden departure either. Ditto for politician Ramdas Athavale being kept out of the show allegedly because he is a Dalit. So, why should people burn an effigy of her in Thane?

“How am I at fault? Am I the channel or part owner of it? It’s the prerequisite of the channel to decide who’s in and who’s not. I’m being paid to host the show and that’s where my job ends,” Shilpa snapped. Naturally, she’s hurt by the incident and is expecting an apology. “It’s disgusting to hear people saying things like ‘Shilpa Shetty ke putle ko jala diya.’ It’s disrespect shown to me and for no good reason.”

As for Goody, Shilpa said, “I think it’s presumptuous of the press to believe her departure was stage managed. I don’t think the channel would go to such an extent just for TRPs.” Goody, she clarified, is suffering from cancer which is in the second stage. “I spoke to her and she wished she could have stayed longer,” added Shilpa. Yes, it was true that the show’s participants had to undergo medical and psychological tests, but Goody was decided on at the last minute. “Let’s show a bit of empathy towards someone who is suffering, let’s not treat her like a news item,” Shilpa pleaded.

There’s also the rumour that she’s lobbying to get sister Shamita Shetty into the Big Brother show in London. “Not true,” Shilpa retorted, “Shamita is only holidaying in London. And she would never do any reality show. She’s different from me, she’s an introvert, there no question of her being able to stay in a house for 13 long weeks.”

Minisha Lamba reffered to as Priety's Clone

The moment Minissha Lamba was launched in Yahaan , stories of her bearing an uncanny resemblance to our pretty woman Preity Zinta started doing the rounds. Few blamed the pretty lass’ Zinta-esque beauty the reason for their comparison while some thought it is their Himachal connection that made them look similar.

While Preity belongs to an army family residing in Shimla, Minissha’s family too is based in Srinagar and the young actor has even lived in Kashmir for two years. Both actresses are well educated. Where Preity has graduated in psychology, Minissha has a degree in English honours!

As far as the careers of these Punjabi kudis are concerned, Preity too shot to fame after initial stint as a tv model. She was appreciated in Liril and Perk ad while it was Minissha’s Cadbury ad which made her grab attention! Modelling for both wasn’t planned and same goes for movies. I think she has done a wonderful job playing an 18 year old and 25 year old, so you can see the growth in her character too and I am sure you guys are going to love her.

Preity meets Dina adia with Open Mouth

Preity says that every time she meets Dina Wadia, she comes away floored. Says Preity, “The first time I met her, I stared at her open mouthed. My goodness, she carries so much history within her! Since then we’ve met over dinner and at other social occasions several times. Each time I’m struck by her gentle demeanour, her classic elegance, and yes, her fragility.”

While speaking about one of her favourite women, Preity’s voice lights up. She continues, “I was also struck by her unmistakable facial resemblance to her illustrious father (Jinnah). I’ve never seen two people who resemble each other so closely.”

Preity says she has met Dina Wadia both in Mumbai and abroad. “She lives in New York. But she visits Mumbai where she has close family. She carries an aura of unmistakable strength. Every time I meet her, there’s so much to imbibe from her. There are some people in this world who just carry an aura about them.

She’s one of them.” The last time when they met, Dina wanted to know about Preity’s IPL matches. “She takes a lot of interest in my life. The last time we met, she wanted to know all about the IPL matches. She’s so important to our times as a woman and a figure in history and yet conveys so much joie de vivre in her attitude. I just want to sit with her and listen to her.”

Amrita Rao- Peru's Bollywood Pari

Amrita Rao may have got lucky on her birthday.

Receiving three paintings dedicated to herself by the great artist MF Hussain himself as a birthday gift has not only upped her asset portfolio but also ‘humbled her’.

However, there are other things that make the girl happy, too. Apparently, when she was shooting in Peru, South America, recently, she was taken aback when a group of locals rushed to her for an autograph, and their mobiles went click, click, click.

That’s not all. They insisted that she see the photos that they had of her on their mobiles. “Some even had her picture as their screensaver,” we are told. Now how on earth did this Amrita craze hit Peru?

It was her film Vivaah that did the trick. They loved the movie, and what they loved even more was their Poonam (played by Amu) in it. Wonder if Vivaah co-star Shahid will draw as much fan-following as Peru’s Bollywood pari? Test ho jaye , Shahid?

Vidya balan goes for Shock Treatment

Vidya Balan has finally let go of her inhibitions and turned into an atrocious prankster on the sets of Kismet Konnection . The otherwise shy and serious actress, Vidya has been actually meting out shock treatments to her crew mates with a tiny electric pen!

Apparently, Vidya found herself an electric pen and very wittily, she replaced it with an ordinary pen kept next to the director’s monitor. Every time an unsuspecting soul lifted the pen to jot down shoot details, they would get an instant shock which would make Vidya and those aware of the pranks, burst into fits of laughter.

Talking about it, a giggling Vidya revealed, “It was absolutely hilarious. Though it was meant to be a prank, I never thought it would go so far since soon people would double-check. But interestingly, all I would do is replace the outer cover of the pen and in the middle of the shooting mayhem, no one would realise it till they’d get the shock. Trust me, every single day, my pen found five victims!”

Ask her if co-star Shahid was any inspiration for turning into a prankster and pat comes the reply, “He is way ahead of me when it comes to pranks. Shahid was actually armed with a farting bag on the sets and his favourite target was our trainer Abbas. Everytime he was about to sit, Shahid would place the bag beneath him and it would go puchack! All of us would start staring at him and the poor guy would be so embarrassed, he wouldn’t know where to look.” And if that wasn’t enough, Vidya would make him a laughing stock by adding, “Of course the smell never reaches its source!”

Kareena puts on some Lbs.

Now that Kareena Kapoor's sleek size-zero look in her latest film Tashan failed to work wonders at the box-office, she has added a few pounds for a new look in her forthcoming Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

A source close to Kareena has confirmed that she has put on weight for her new style for the film, which also stars brothers Salman and Sohail Khan in pivotal roles.

'Tashan had action scenes and required Kareena to be thin and to look fit. So she cut down on her weight. But her character in Main Aur Mrs Khanna is entirely different.

'Kareena plays a housewife and has kept her style keeping the character in mind,' the source was quoted as saying.

Incidentally, Kareena's favourite designer Manish Malhotra, who tailored her look for Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, said: 'Bebo (Kareena) has never looked better.'

Although the actress' prescribed diet includes paranthas, momos, cheese, pasta and bananas, which are mostly considered fattening, it is her daily practice of yoga that keeps her fit.

'She is feeling more energetic, healthier and sexy now. Kareena wants her fans to know that it is only due to her dedication and discipline about her eating and fitness habits that she could achieve her figure,' the source said.
