Katrina Kaif Enters Reality Show Brigade

Bollywood belle Katrina Kaif is one beauty who has been making frequent small screen visits. And going by the actress’ latest plans, her TV stints are set to get bigger. Kat is geared up to become a regular TV face and will be seen gracing even bigger and better reality shows.

However, Kat’s latest fixation for TV is not a publicity stunt but is motivated by a good cause. The massive remunerations Katrina bags from her TV stints are being diverted to her mother’s charity. And it’s not the first time that the actress has pitched in for the noble effort.

Sources reveal that Katrina’s cheque from her first game-show appearance bought the first ambulance for Mercy Home and orphanage run by her mother Susan. Furthermore, the moolah she made through her appearances on ‘10 Ka Dum’ and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ went to the orphanage as well.

Buzz now states that Katrina is negotiating for a couple of other reality/music shows. Confirming the news, Katrina said, "It’s all for my mother’s charity work. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be interested in television appearances."

Katrina said, "Normally one doesn’t like to speak on one’s charity work. It’s a bit cheesy. But since people have been asking why I’m seen on so many shows, I’ve to admit that I’ve been lending my mom a helping hand with her orphanage. I’m lucky enough to let my mother make sure my charitable donations are used in the best way."

Priyanka loses out to Katrina

Priyanka Chopra may have become the latest favourite of the audience and even with the critics after ‘Kaminey’, but the actress couldn’t beat Katrina Kaif’s Box Office record. Reports reveal that because of the debacle of Priyanka’s latest release ‘What’s Your Rashee?’, the actress failed to score over Katrina’s record of five consecutive hits.

In the recent past, Katrina has given five hits in a row, while Priyanka could deliver only four, one after the other, and her fifth flick in the series with Hurman Baweja, ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ bombed at the Box Office.

Nevertheless, Priyanka’s ‘Fashion’, ‘Dostana’ and ‘Kaminey’ were among the biggest hits of the year.

Grapevine has it that filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is making sure that Priyanka doesn’t feel too bad about this, so he is reportedly planning to sign her for ‘Fashion 2’.

Katrina Kaif inspired by Anil Kapoor

Taking inspirations from actor Anil Kapoor, actress Katrina Kaif feels concentration and focus are the two most important things that every actor needs to follow.

"During the shooting of “Humko Deewana Kar Gaye” Anil used to tell and teach me as to how concentration and focus are important things in an actor’s career. This is one thing that I will not forget and feel that will flourish my career," Katrina said.

The actress, who has worked with several senior and experienced actors like Aksahy Kumar, Govinda and Salman Khan, feels blessed to have such talented co-stars from whom she has learnt a lot.

"The more films you do you get more experience and then you get to know what you want to do as an actor, what different and special thing a role or a script you are looking for," she said.

Katrina who plays a lead role in “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, a romantic-comedy, opposite Ranbir Kapoor, said, "I was kind of chilled out and had fun while shooting with Ranbir. He is a good co-star who is passionate about his work and does not have ego."

Talking about the film, Katrina said, "It is a romantic-comedy movie. Though hundreds of movies have been made on love but this is unsual, it is unique, wacky and stylish."

The film is a romantic story of two youngsters, Prem and Jennifer, played by Ranbir and Katrina. It is a love drama packed in fun and joy. The movie is expected to hit the silver screen on November 6.

Katrina Kaif brand ambassador Oil Olay

It's raining endorsement deals in Katrina Kaif's kitty. The actress who is currently ruling the roost in Bollywood has been signed as the brand ambassador of international cosmetic giant Oil of Olay that launched the newly formulated White Radiance range in India.

According to a source, Katrina is a youth icon of today. The international brand found Kats to be the apt model to market their product.

This year, Katrina has been the top choice for endorsing brands. Only recently she was chosen by leading jewelry brand Nakshatra as their brand ambassador and now she has bagged yet another plum endorsement deal with Oil of Olay. The future certainly looks bright for this gorgeous actress.

Katrina Kaif knocked by a die hard fan

Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif got a little more attention than she bargained for while interacting with fans at the Indian Independence Day parade in Houston. A boy actually knocked her down while trying to reach out to her.

"Yes I was knocked off my feet. And I did fall. And considering it was a 12 year old boy half my size, it did kinda take me by surprise. But I didn’t mind at all. I guess it showed the force of his love for me," said Katrina.

The actress is quite sporting and doesn’t mind fans getting close as long as they don’t get personal.

"When you go for these fan interactions you can’t be finicky about people getting too close and not giving you space, etc etc. They do want to shake hands, get themselves clicked, sign papers. I love to mingle with them. And I did so to my heart’s content in Houston and Chicago. So what if some of them got over-excited? Shows how much they love me," she said.

Katrina, who has given hits like "Singh is Kinng" and "New York", loves the interactive spirit at NRI gatherings and thinks a direct one-on-one with fans is a truly exhilarating experience.

"There were kids and there were old people. They all reached out," the star said.

This is for all those who thought Salman to be Katrina’s mentor. Well, it wasn’t Salman who introduced this sizzler to Bollywood but Ayesha Shroff, actor Jackie Shroff’s wife, who did this good deed. But then people do move on and this is what has precisely happened with Kat, for the actress seems to have forgotten her real mentor.

In a sensational interview to a news daily, Ayesha Shroff has clarified many a misconceptions about Katrina Kaif. First things first ‘Kaif’ is not Katrina’s real surname but she is Katrina Turquotte originally. “Katrina had an English surname, which was not easy to pronounce. She is not Katrina Kaif originally. She is Katrina Turquotte. We wanted to give her a surname which would be accepted by the Indian audience. First we thought of naming her Katrina Kazi, but then we thought Kazi would have a religious overtone. So we thought of Kaif”, says a placid Ayesha.

When asked about Katrina’s Kashmiri father being the reason for her surname being ‘Kaif’, Ayesha exclaimed “If that’s what she says, you have to believe her. Her name on her passport that time was Katrina Turquotte.”

Well, wonder if the truth is actually what it really seems like, then what’s keeping Katrina from opening her mouth for these aren’t things that can be hidden for a long time. What’s even stranger is the fact that Kat has forgotten her mentor too! On an enquiry about whether her discovery Katrina was in touch with her, Jackie’s wife said, “Not really. We met at a party once and just greeted each other.”

Katrina Kaif to star in Singh Is Kinng sequel

After the huge success of ‘Singh Is Kinng’, Katrina Kaif is all set to recreate the same magic with Akshay Kumar in ‘Singh Is Kinng 2’.

If the latest Bollywood news is to be believed, Katrina Kaif is gearing up to star in the sequel of the 2008 hit, which will be directed by Vipul Shah, who had produced the original. Shah is apparently desperate to have Katrina onboard for he wants to repeat the ‘Singh Is Kinng’ thunder by casting the duo again.

“As we all know even Akki is eager to start with the film. The only question that now remains is – ‘Will Katrina Kaif be part of it?’ Well the production team is planning to approach her, but nothing has been finalized as of now,” inputs a source.

Well, here’s hoping Katrina says a yes to this one, for Akshay’s fading charisma won’t leave much to look forward to otherwise!

Happy Birthday to Katrina Kaif

Bollywood bombshell Katrina Kaif turns 25 today. Born in Hong Kong, Katrina was brought up in London and then US, and even Hawai, and now she is in the country she considers her home India. She is one of eight siblings, all girls.

Born to Indian and British parents, Katrina Kaif reached Bollywood with the handicaps of a Brit Accent and a big build that outmatched that of most heroes. But after four years, last year proved immensely fortunate for the actress as she starred in four big hits- Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome. This year, she was also part of the first big hit of the year namely, Race.

She gives the credit of her success to her fans and luck. "I don’t think it’s a matter of where you place yourself. It’s a matter of how your fans feel about you and where the industry finds you. At this particular place I think I am lucky to be able to say that I do get offers for a lot of films,” Katrina said.

She is also clear headed about where she is poised. “I am pretty clear about what I want to do. I don’t want to go down the road doing serious cinema. I am happy doing commercial films. The fun films give the audience time to escape the monotony in everyday life,” she said.

When asked during a recent press meet after the big success of NEW YORK, about which passport she holds at present, Katrina refused to divulge anything, saying "no comments", though most of the media and even her fans are under the impression that she holds a British passport!

However, she was quick to call herself a global citizen, saying that she has travelled to as many as twenty counties regarding her work and with her family. Although she feels at home in India and thus considers herself to be an Indian. She also added that it is India which has given her fame and recognition and she owes her successful career to the people of India, who despite her shortcomings have accepted her with open arms.

Katrina's dream birthday-holiday with her family is delayed yet again. But this time, it's only by a day. Katrina Kaif has decided to leave on Sunday instead of Saturday as "New York" cast and crew are having a party on Saturday to celebrate the film's success.

Katrina can't wait to zip off on her month-long holiday and explore the holiday spot for herself and her family which she has searched on the internet. The entire Kaif family will gather together in London and then proceed to an undisclosed destination in Italy.

"Quite honestly I haven't been with my whole family for a long time. I've been preparing for my holiday for ages. I have been working like a mad woman trying to finish all my work on time. It got hectic as the time for me to leave approached. I was dubbing for “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” and shooting two songs for “De Dana Dan”. At one point I thought I wouldn't finish on time. But I did. And I am really looking forward to my time with my family," says Katrina.

This would be the longest time when Katrina would be away from Salman Khan and his family. And probably, she would do some serious rethinking about her life and Salman!!!

Her family comprises of her mother, six sisters and a brother but their father lives separately and Kat is not in touch with him.

He is very decent and comes from a good family and they went their own ways because of issues which are personal. He is an affluent person, so he is not going to come back because his daughter is now famous.”

“My parents separated when we were very young. We were raised by my mother who did a wonderful job. She raised us with the belief and inspiration to find oneself in the world. Live your dreams and find what is going to make you live life freely. She made us tough and she wasn’t the kind of mother who told us to go to college and get a degree and become a doctor or a lawyer. She herself had found her fulfillment in things that were off-beat,” Katrina added.

Katrina Kaif turns Producer

Katrina Kaif is all set to become a producer, as the actress has decided to remake a French film in Bollywood.

According to sources, Katrina saw a French flick recently and fell in love with it instantly, so much so that she has decided to finance it herself and has also bought the remake rights of the same.

Though Katrina is refusing to divulge the name of the film, what’s known is that she will be playing the central character in it. “It’s a huge hit of 2006. I don’t want to name it because then it will immediately be picked up by others and they’ll get down to making their own versions of the film before I have even finalised the deal. I’m very serious about the film and my negotiations are on. And if all goes well, I’ll have the rights with me very soon,” says Katrina.

It is believed that Katrina will be portraying a very different character in her production. “My role in the film has dark shades to it. I play a conniving, ambitious woman. It’s a gloriously grey character, the kind I haven’t played before,” adds Katrina.

Bollywood’s favourite lass Katrina Kaif might be the most googled Indian star but beware, for she is dangerous too! Yes, you got that right, as there are chances that searching for her on the internet can infect your computer with a dangerous virus.

Downloading screensavers and wallpapers of Katrina can be harmful to your computer. A report called “The Web’s Most Dangerous Search Terms”, released by computer security provider McAfee Inc, says that the beautiful actress’ name is one of the most dangerous online search words in India and queries related to her name can come up with results linking to malicious software and online scams.

Apparently, the search word Katrina Kaif has a maximum risk percentage of 28.6 (where “maximum risk” refers to the maximum percentage of risky sites a user might encounter on a single page of search results). This is a shade below ‘Wapstick”, a popular website for free downloads of music, ringtones, wallpapers, animations and logos for mobile phones.

Cyber experts suggest that cyber criminals make websites based on most used search terms and offer free download of content to lure the web user. The content in turn has a malicious code attached to it which has the ability to destroy stored data on your PC.

Katrina had a nice laugh when asked about the same. She said, “The virus bit is kind of funny. But the Internet popularity is something which is really special to me. It means your fans and people who like you are thinking about you.”
