Deepika is India's New Style Icon

She played a Chinese girl in Chandni Chowk To China , and though the movie didnot do well, Deepika Padukone is the latest trend caught the fancy of young girls.

Well, this fringe hair-do became a rage in 1960s when actress Sadhna sported this hair-cut. In 1980s fringes was style statement for charming actress Neelam. Stylist Malllika Bhat, who gave Deepika the tweaked Chinese look, says, “Sporting a fringe will be the coolest thing of this year as the style is back in vogue. Fringe hides your age and makes you look younger.”

This modern-chic style is getting popular amongst trendy urban class girls. But any girl should be careful while trying fringes because it can turn out to be a fashion-disaster, as it doesn’t suit every beautiful face.

Now that the 'King Khan' SRK and the 'Perfectionist' Aamir Khan have registered their blockbuster, it is time for the stunt king to prove his worth.Wait for the much awaited Chandni Chowk To China will soon be over. Its time to see if the film will break or at least match up to the collections of the films of the other two superstars, namely SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Aamir's Ghajini. But Akshay and the producers of CC2C are leaving no stones unturned to get this film a grand premiere.

CC2C's first international premiere will be held at the SJR theatre in LA tonight. In fact, not too long ago, the screens at this theatre were coloured by works of much acclaimed filmmakers like Clint Eastwoood's Gran Toriona , The Dark Knight premiere, Oceans 13 premiere and many more.

RAAZ - The Mystery Continues could be a hot movie

Kangana Ranaut
Is this a mere coincidence? While Hollywood studio Warner Bros. awaits the feedback to Chandni Chowk To China on January 16, another Hollywood giant, Sony Pictures, is keeping its fingers crossed for RAAZ – The Mystery Continues, which opens worldwide the following week, on January 23.

The Bhatts are known for qualitative films and RAAZ – The Mystery Continues, should not be an exception.

Meanwhile, there was a rumour that the Bhatts are planning to dub RAAZ – The Mystery Continues in South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu, releasing it simultaneously with the Hindi version.

And Mukesh Bhatt clears the air, "We aren't dubbing in South languages”.

Deepika Padukone in double role in Chandni Chowk To China

Deepika Padukone plays a double role in Chandni Chowk To China. She plays twin sisters - one has an Indian look and the other a Chinese.

In this movie, she plays the role of Sakhi who has embarked on a journey to pay homage to the land of her birth and her dead father and twin. Her other role requires her to enact the part of a sexy femme fatale who is interestingly named ‘Meow Meow‘. Her Chinese looks was all thanks to makeup artist who came up with a simpler solution and used the eyeliner in such a way that it gave my eyes the Chinese tweak.

“It was quite challenging to be doing a double role. While the Indian girl is sweet and simple, the Chinese is energetic, athletic and sexy. I am happy to have got an opportunity to play a simple as well as a sexy girl in one single film,” says Deepika.

Deepika has essayed both her roles with complete ease and it is expected to do well at the theatres

Chandni Chowk To China - to be released in China

Hindi films are going global and when you've a Hollywood studio backing your project, you can't think small. Warner Bros., the presenters of Chandni Chowk To China, are ensuring that the much-awaited film gets an extensive release. While the film will have a wide release in India as also in the international markets, there's talk that Warner is attempting to release the film simultaneously in China.

Of course, the decision in such cases has to be taken by the head office in Los Angeles, but if Chandni Chowk To China does see a simultaneous release in China, it would pave the way for more Hindi films to follow suit.

Nikhil Advani to shoot Chandni Chowk To China in Bangkok

After a major part of the shooting, the director Nikhil Advani and his entire crew had to hastily leave China and look for an alternative place to shoot the rest of the film. If New York is being shot in Philadelphia Chandni Chowk To China has been shot in Bangkok. And with good reason.

Says Nikhil, "It was the year of the Olympics in China and it became impossible beyond a point to shoot in the country where our film is based. Maybe a quieter less flamboyant film…but not the kind of action that Akshay has shot."

Apparently, the Olympics authorities found Akshay Kumar's athletic exertions to be a bit of an intrusion in the preparations for the grand international event. Says Nikhil, "Bangkok's topography is quite similar to China. Also, it's a very Bollywood-friendly country. So we just had to let go of the real country. Because the action scenes required Olympian skills and infrastructure."

Akshay Kumar had to battle it out with globally-known actors like Gordon Lieu who was in The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin and Roger Yuan, the main baddie in the Jackie Chan starrer Shanghai Noon.

Says Nikhil, "Gordon Lieu is a well-known name in Hollywood and Roger Yuan is the only Asian actor who works out of Bollywood. They both play arch-villains. Then I've a cast of actors who are stalwarts in China. They held on their own against Akshay, even when they were taken out of their home ground and put into Bangkok masquerading as China."

Incidentally, apart from Akshay, Mithun Chakraborty who was also quite an action star during his heydays has been given to do stunts in Chandni Chowk To China. Says Nikhil, "Mithunda will kick some ass too. Action is the backbone of my film. While other films have item songs Chandni Chowk To China has item-action. It's the action scenes that move the plot forward. The songs are extremely situational. I'm very lucky. I got Bappi Lahiri to re-do his 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost'. I think the music is a decent follow-up to my Salaam-e-Ishq."

Next Female Akshay Kumar aka Deepika Padukone

Don’t get shocked to see Deepika in a completely new look. Deepika Padukone dons a new, Chinese look for her new movie Chandni Chowk to China.

The lady boldly claims that she is the female Akshay Kumar of tinsel town. In her own words, “I would like to be called Next Female Akshay Kumar”.

What say Katrina?

It seems miss Padukone is too impressed by Mr. Akshay Khiladi Kumar, or it could just be an strategy to promote Chandni Chowk To China.

There comes one question in mind. Why not saying herself, “Next Female Shahrukh Khan?”

Has Deepika decided to carry on projects with Akshay Kumar?
Isn’t she interested to grab projects with the Badshah of Bollywood aka Shahrukh Khan?

Bangkok is The Hottest destination for Bollywood

Bangkok is beckoning Bollywood. Half the Indian film industry is currently stationed in the city for work - and not quite for sampling its glitzy nightlife and shopping malls.

First of all, the four As - Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao - have been in Bangkok for a month shooting for Neera Vora's 'Shortcut'.

Another A-star Akshay Kumar is also in Bangkok with his pretty co-star Deepika Padukone shooting for Nikhil Advani's 'Chandni Chowk To China'.

Ranbir Kapoor flew to Bangkok Friday for a photo session for the Filmfare magazine, and not to join girlfriend Deepika Padukone.

Bangkok is currently the hottest spot for not only film shooting but also other glamour events. Priyanka Chopra flew to Bangkok last week to do an ad with Saif Ali Khan.

'It was touch-and-go because I had to wrap up the ad, then rush back to Mumbai and then rush to Miami for Tarun Mansukhani's 'Dostana'. But the rush was worth it because I always like going to Bangkok for holidays and work.'

Sammir Dattani, who's holidaying in Bangkok and Pataya with his friends, ran into several colleagues from the industry.

'The entire industry seemed to be there, either holidaying or working. Bangkok is a fun spot and at the same time very work-oriented. I shot for my comedy 'Dhoom Dhadaka' in Bangkok. Now I'm back here for holiday.'

Sammir sees more and more of Bollywood making a beeline for Bangkok this year. Never mind if Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Bombay To Bangkok' crashed with a thud.
