Rajnikanth to be directed by daughter Saundarya

South Superstar Rajnikanth is set to star in a live action role in a mega budget animation film- Sultan The Warrior, to be directed by his daughter, Saundarya.

At 2 billion rupees, it is the most expensive animated movie ever to be produced in India and is being produced by Soundarya’s Ocher Studios. Dad Rajnikanth must be doubly proud to star in a movie directed and produced by his daughter.

Telugu actress Ileana has been signed opposite him in the live action sequences. The movie is getting a buzz unusual for animated movies thanks to the Rajnikanth brand name attached to it. Apart from that, Ocher is collaborating with Adlabs for this movie. The music for the film has been scored by AR Rahman and the graphics and visual effects have been done by Soundarya’s team at Ocher.

And now Ocher studios has also tied up with Warner Bros for producing live action films.” They’re a great team; you know there’s nothing more I can say about Warner Bros that people don’t already know. We have tied up an exclusive agreement deal that we’ll produce live action films for them. We’re producing South Indian films to begin with, but soon we’ll move on to the North Indian market as well. It’s an exclusive agreement that we have happening,” says Saundarya.

Saundarya has done a cameo in her father’s bumper movie Kuselan. But she is keener to be behind the camera than in front of it these days.

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan come face to face

Kamal Haasan's mega project Dasavatharam has opened across cinema halls and the film is being talked about, as it's the first time ever in the history of cinema that an actor would be seen in 10 different roles.

A special screening of this Tamil flick was held in Chennai and present at this screening was none another than superstar Rajinikanth. According to sources, Rajini was simply bowled over by the film and termed it as 'extraordinary'. With praises coming from none other than Rajini Sir himself, Kamal Haasan must be feeling all the more thrilled.

The magnum-opus which also stars Mallika Sherawat, Asin and Jaya Prada is directed by noted filmmaker K.S.Ravikumar. Bollywood's ace composer Himesh Reshammiya has given the music for this film which is being released with a record number of prints in India.

Rajnikanth vs Badshah Shah Rukh Khan - A Rivalry Worth Watching

It could be by default and not by design. Or sheer coincidence. South superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan are both remaking the Malayalam superhit Katha Parayumbol. Rajnikanth is in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Filmcity with leading ladies Nayantara and Meena, protagonist Pashupati and director P Vasu, shooting non-stop for the Tamil version Kuselan which is scheduled for release on August 15; while Shah Rukh is working overtime on the Hindi version Billoo Barber, starring Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta and which is slated for release also in August, at Mumbai’s Film City. A trade source in Chennai said, “If Shah Rukh’s film releases on the same day as Rajnikanth’s, then the Hindi dubbed version of Kuselan will be affected.”

After Rajnikanth’s Sivaji — The Boss became a superhit in Maharashtra, Bollywood distributors sat up and took notice of the actor’s popularity outside Tamil Nadu for the first time. On the face of it, Rajnikanth and Shah Rukh have never had an issue. The only discord between the two happened when Rajnikanth was named Entertainer of The Year by a television channel. Shah Rukh, who was present at the awards function of the channel, asked Rajni how he managed the title. Rajni, of course, took Shah Rukh’s jibe in good humour. But in his acceptance speech, the South biggie who is a big Amitabh Bachchan fan, hit back saying, “There will be many Badshahs but there is only one Shahenshah.” Now there is said to be a dignified coldness between Rajnikanth and Shah Rukh.

Theatre owner and leading Tamil distributor in Maharashtra, Nambi Rajan said, “Rajnikanth is a legend. There is so much excitement for Kuselan though its release is nearly three months away.” Rajan also feels that it is unfair to compare Billoo Barber with Kuselan because both films will cater to a different audience. P Vasu, Kuselan’s director, has made many changes in the screenplay and his film will not be a direct lift of the Malayalam movie. On the other hand, Priyada-rshan’s Billoo Barber will bear a close resemblance to the Malayalam original.
