Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol starrer My Name Is Khan directed by their best buddy Karan Johar seems to be spoiling relations between Kajol and Karan Johar.

One big schedule of the film has already been wrapped up in the USA before Shah Rukh Khan Shoulder surgery. But Kajol it seems is not too keen on shooting out of India given that she has to leave her daughter Nysa back home now that she’s going to school. But Karan also has to shoot some more sequences in New York, which Kajol is refusing to oblige with.

Karan expects that his good friend understands his problem but Kajol wants him to shoot these portions in Mumbai itself on specially built sets.

But Karan being Karan he just doesn’t want to compromise on such things. So now that’s a deadlock even the King Khan might not be able to resolve.

DDLJ completes 700 Weeks of Love

This versatile actress proved her versatility in the field of social services also. The spontaneous actress Kajol is all set to receive an award for her commendable work in the field of social service.
Kajol will receive the coveted 'Karmaveer Puraskar' award on the 26th of November in New Delhi. The 'Karmaveer Puraskar' is a national award for Social Justice & Citizen Action commissioned to recognize individuals who have been pivotal for leading change. The awards are given to individuals from various sectors for their contribution to promote social justice and action.

"I believe that Social commitment is as important as our professional and personal commitments. It is indeed an honour to have been selected for this award. I will keep doing my bit and giving back to society the best in my capacity", affirms Kajol.

Apart from being an acclaimed actress, Kajol has always been known for her social work. She was also recently appointed as the goodwill ambassador and patron of the UK based Loomba Trust which is a charity devoted to educating widow's children, particularly in India. Kajol appointed as Goodwill Ambassador of Loomba Trust

Kajol may not be seen much in films these days but the bubbly actress surely has her hands full with endorsements and some charitable work.

Kajol was recently appointed as the goodwill ambassador of the U.K. based Loomba Trust, a charity dedicated to the education of widow's children in and around India.

The function held at Whitehall London (on the occasion of UN International day to celebrate non-violence- Oct 2) saw some bigwigs such as Cherie Blair (wife of former British P.M. Tony Blair), Mayor of London Boris Johnson and India's high commissioner to the U.K. Shiv Shankar Mukherjee in attendance.

Cherie Blair who also happens to be the President of the Loomba Trust presented Kajol with a plaque. The actress said that she would do her best to be worthy of this appointment.

The Loomba Trust, founded by Raj Loomba, has already helped educated 3500 children of widows in India and plans to extend its activities to Sri Lanka, Nepal and South Africa in the coming years.

Bollywood actress Kajol has been appointed goodwill ambassador of the Britain-based Loomba Trust that works for the welfare and education of children of poor widows in India.

'I am honoured and I hope I would be worthy of this appointment,' said Kajol while accepting a plaque from Cherie Blair.Cherie Blair,the wife of the former British prime minister Tony Blair, is president of the Loomba Trust.

Cherie said that the trust helped to educate at least a hundred children of poor widows in every state of India that totals 3,600. She also extended the trust's projects to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.

Kajol attended the annual Diwali dinner organised by the trust.The event raised 150,000 pounds for charity to provide scholarships for the children of poor widows in India.Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, India's High Commissioner to Britain, congratulated the trust for 'a worthy job' and promised his support for its noble efforts.

Kajol Dreams of 3 more Babies

The lady likes her privacy and prefers to talk to the media mostly when her films are about to release. And her father’s death recently has made her quieter still. Recently, she was in the city to endorse a brand but kept her appearance to a short 30-minutes pose-appear-and-disappear routine.

Asked what she has been doing of late, she said, “Ajay is busy shooting and my daughter Nysa keeps me busy.”

Kajol, who has said in the past that “she was born to be a mother,” perks up immediately at the mention of her daughter. “Everybody I work with knows that my kid comes first. In fact she occupies the one to 10 slots,” she said. And does she plan to become a mother again? “Oh definitely,” she says, “I want to have at least three more kids.”

The actress who has done only selective work since she became a mother may completely go off the screen then! But what is she working on just now? “It’s a film that I will do with my husband. It’s actually an animation film with human characters called Toonpur Ka Superhero, something like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? We’re actually playing ourselves, yes, we’ll be Ajay and Kajol. But the cartoon characters get the main roles. It will be healthy competition.”

Kajol says YES to Karan Johar

Bollywood actress Kajol has finally given the green signal to Karan Johar for his next movie, ‘ My Name Is Khan.’

This has ended weeks of speculation on who is going to be the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the movie.

When Kajol was offered the role first she was hesitant to commit giving the excuse that she had not gone through the screenplay completely and that she was hesitant to leave her little baby Nysa alone for long periods of shooting.

This had started the speculation that a miffed Karan Johar was setting sights on Bollywood bombshell Kareena Kapoor in the place of Kajol.

Finally, hubby Ajay Devgan confirmed the news saying that, “Kajol indeed took a long time to take a call on her participation in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan, but the problem was that she had not heard the script in detail. This week, she took a long look at the script and finally said ‘yes’.”

Kareena Kapoor is the loser and will have to wait for another opportunity to work with Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan.

Now everyone hopes that the magical team of Karan Johar- Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will deliver a spectacular movie on the lines of previous hits like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum.

Kajol Plays Cameo In Haal-E-Dil

It looks like generosity runs in the Devgan family. Last week, Ajay Devgan was in news for his generous gesture towards Kumar Mangat, who has been his business manger for over 20 years.

Now, it is wife Kajol who has agreed to play a cameo role in Haal-e-Dil, which will be produced by Kumar Mangat.

Our source said, “Ajay and Kajol are extremely close to Kumar Mangat and the film Haal-e-Dil is Mangat’s daughter Amita’s debut film.

So, when he requested Kajol to play a cameo in the film, she immediately agreed.”

It’s a known fact that Kajol only works with established banners like Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions, and is usually extremely selective about her roles. In Haal-e-Dil, she will play a small but vital role.

Kajol’s role in the film will give it the surprise twist that Mangat wants.

No wonder Mangat refused to give out detailsabout Kajol’s character when we asked him. However, when we told that we had a picture of Kajol from Haal-e-Dil, he laughed and said, “No comments.”

Kajol- I'm not saying 'yes' to K JO until I hear his script

Kajol tries to keep busy with her work (she's judging a reality show now) though it's obvious that her father Shomu Mukherjee's death has taken its toll on her.

A close friend of Kajol says, “Kajol has been badly affected by her father's death. Since, her parents were separated she didn't see much of her dad during her growing up years. I think there's a sense of guilt after his death and about the fact that she could have spent more time with him.”

Says Kajol, “I am coping quite well. The best way to deal with death is to immerse yourself in work. Also, my daughter and husband need me to be around.”

Recently, Kajol left all her work to be with husband Ajay Devgan while he was shooting for Golmaal Returns in Goa.

She pauses for a while before going back to talking about her father. “My father had been suffering for a long time. I think it was more a freedom from the pain he was undergoing, than anything else,” she says.

When asked whether her habit of reading is helping her to cope with her grief, she replies with the candidness so typical of Kajol. “I do a lot of mindless reading. Give me Mills & Boon or a mushy pulp fiction novel and I'll be happy,” she says.

Her reading habit has remained intact despite having a baby to take care of. Kajol says, “You can always find the time to do what you really want to do.”

Ironically, Kajol was portraying the role of a woman afflicted with Alzhemier's disease in U Me Aur Hum while her father was in his last stage of illness. She says that the character she played was almost therapeutic.

Says Kajol, “To play an Alzheimer's patient convincingly, I had a doctor on the sets to guide me. The doctor told me that a person with Alzheimer's forgets all his experiences and this affects his reactions. That one little piece of information helped me to play this character.”

Kajol is all slated to sing a song for Karan Johar's next film starring Shah Rukh Khan. “We are talking about it. I know that he wants me to feature in all of his films. I could not do Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna as shooting in New York for 90 days with my baby was simply not possible. Of course, Karan understood,” she adds.

Kajol hasn't said a yes to KJo's next film as this one too will be shot in foreign locales. She says, “I'm not saying 'yes' to him until I hear his script.”

Kajol accused of being Choosy

Though hubby Ajay Devgan's directorial debut, U ME AUR HUM, may not have been a commercial success, yet, as mostly, Kajol has uniformly walked away with the accolades. In fact, even reviewers and audiences who did not like U ME AUR HUM are unanimous that Kajol is the saving grace of the movie.

Off late, Kajol has been accused of being over choosy, especially due to the uncertainty / delay regarding her signing Karan Johar's directorial venture with Shah Rukh Khan and also Raju Hirani's Aamir Khan Project. Kajol honestly admits that she is too picky as an actress. But in the same breath adds that if Mira Nair (SALAAM BOMBAY, MONSOON WEDDING etc.) offers her a comedy, she would gladly grab it without a second thought.

Well, we must confess that we agree totally with what one of Kajol's closest friend revealed last year (please do not ask us to disclose the name!) - What is interesting about Kajol is that she is capable of making statements that you do not expect from her at all!

Kajol's father "Shomu Mukherjee" passed away

The whole of Bollywood has come to a sudden standstill with the most unexpected news that broke out today morning. Shomu Mukherjee, the proud father of bubbly and effervescent Kajol, father-in-law to Ajay Devgan and Tanuja's husband passed away today morning. Death could not have been stone-hearted to have taken away the man, when his darling daughter and son-in-law's magnum opus film (U, Me Aur Hum) is just a day away from its gala release.

Hailing from a family headed by his father, Sashadhar Mukherjee (famously known as the founder of Filmistan studios), Shomu was the youngest of the three siblings, the other two being Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. While Joy and Deb were on to become actors; Shomu took the plunge to become a director and producer.
