Shahid's Bollywood Story Till Date

Shahid Kapoor danced his way into hearts with his dashing dancing style in Ken Ghosh’s Ishq Vishq Pyar Vyaar . Back then, his style was compared to veteran actor Shammi Kapoor. Is that the reason why Shahid, who is playing a dancer in Ken Ghosh’s next, wants to name the flick as Yahoo ? There is more to Shahid’s Yahoo story.

According to a unit member there is a lot of confusion about the title of this movie. Shahid plays a dancer in the film for which he will be sporting a new look and he feels the title Yahoo will be apt. He is not happy with the title Star and is keen to replace it with Yahoo . When asked about it Shahid said, “Actually we haven’t fixed the title yet. Yahoo is one of the titles we are considering. We will wait a bit before we take any decision.”

Shahid has his reasons for supporting and suggesting Yahoo as the title, he says, “The title Star has been suggested by UTV, but I don’t think it will be the final title. UTV is coming out with a magazine of their forthcoming project and hence the title. But everyone feels that we should change it, so Star is just a tentative title as of now.”

Yahoo had become synonymous with Shammi Kapoor when he gave a storm of a performance in his super hit film Junglee . The word ‘Yahoo’ turned lucky for Shammi Kapoor and established him as a great actor and dancer in the industry. We hope that Shahid’s Yahoo story turns out to be lucky for him too.

Ajay on House Arrest

Ajay Devgan is a doting father. To make up for his long absence from home, he gave in to his daughter Nysa's demand to spend time with her. He cancelled all his engagements and stayed home for a month and devoted his time completely to Nysa.

“I had no choice,” confides Ajay. “It was my daughter Nysa's command. She's the only woman in my life who can make me dance around her little finger. Now that she's all of five, her demands are far more vocal,” he says.

It all began when Nysa missed Ajay's presence in the house for a long time. Says Ajay, “First, I was shooting non-stop for U Me Aur Hum. Soon after that I had to leave for Goa for filming Golmaal Returns. This long schedule of work didn't go down well with my daughter.” So last month, Nysa forced Ajay to cancel all his engagements and spend more time with her.

Ask Ajay how he coped with being under house arrest for a month and he reacts, “I actually enjoy her bullying me. I absolutely loved the time I spent with her.” Though this was the first time that Ajay spent a chunk of time with his daughter, he loved it so much that now he wants to make it a ritual.

As Ajay has now resumed work and Kajol has signed Karan Johar's film which has to be shot in the US, it is likely to leave Nysa alone. “No, Kajol's film schedule will not pose a problem. I am already planning to spend as much time as I can with Nysa. But otherwise, my parents do a very good job of taking care of her. In fact, Nysa looks up to her grandparents as her own parents. So leaving her at home is definitely not an issue.”

Talk about Kajol getting back to work and Ajay becomes an epitome of a liberal husband. He says, “Kajol is an extremely talented actor and everyone looks forward to her films. And that's the reason it gives me great joy to see her working again. Besides that, she has every right to do what she desires.”

Since Ajay is so smitten by Kajol as an actress, is he planning to cast her in all his films? “Definitely not!” he replies. “Why should she be in all our productions? In fact even I don't intend to star in all the films I direct. Casting would depend entirely on the character to be portrayed. If I feel some other actor suits best in my next directorial venture, then I will go ahead and sign him without blinking an eyelid,” he says.

According to Ajay, reports of him planning to cast Kareena in his next film are baseless. He says, “I have read that I had approached Kareena for my film, that was news to me. I haven't even finalised my script, so how can I ask her or any other actor to be part of my next film? For now I'm happy to have Kareena as my co-star in Golmaal Returns. In fact we will be leaving for Bangkok in a couple of days to shoot the last song. The sequel has turned out much bigger than the first part.”

Emran Hashmi demands 150 million for the next Venture

Buoyed by the success of "Jannat", Percept Picture Company (PPC), which released the film, has signed on the leading man Emran Hashmi for a three-film deal worth Rs 150 million.

What should warm the cockles of the actor is that the PPC agreed to the price he demanded Rs 50 million per movie. So, his deal with the PPC is the biggest ever Hashmi has signed so far.

After the deal was signed Thursday, the PPC's joint managing director Shailendra Singh said, "We are very happy to have Emran Hashmi on board. We believe his performances are consistently improving and he has the potential to make a difference to our future line-up with leading directors."

Obviously, Hashmi could not have been happier for the faith reposed on him by a leading distribution and production company.

"All I can say is that I am delighted. Whatever I have achieved in films so far has largely been because of the Bhatts. So, a fair share of all the appreciation that I am getting today should also go to them," the actor remarked after signing the deal.

The PPC has also taken on board directors like Priydarshan, David Dhawan and Nagesh Kukunoor.

"We want to produce all genres of comedy, be it comedy, supernatural thriller, drama, romance and action. So we are signing directors who can justify making these divergent genres of films," Singh said.

Singh hinted that Emran Hashmi may be cast in one of David Dhawan's movies for the PPC.

After the successes of "Khuda Ke Liye" and "Jannat," the PPC is now on the look out for acquiring talent to take it production portfolio to the next level.

IIFA to See Biggest Stars Of Bollywood Perform

The hottest names in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor are all set to come together for their fans. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards that kick-off in Friday in Bangkok will see the hot, sizzling and energetic trio of Akshay, Bebo and Kats along with apna Govinda igniting the flame on stage with their dance performances

And while the audiences will be clapping to some super performances by the fantastic four, the ‘De Taali’ team of Aftab, Ayesha and Riteish will add to the evening’s sparkle by getting their act in place. Sharing his excitement with Indiatimes Movies, Aftab who is currently shooting in Hyderabad for ‘Acid Factory’ says, “Last year I had performed at IFFA on the track ‘ Afreen ’ from my film ‘Red’ and it was a great experience. I feel honoured that I will be performing once more on the IFFA stage. In fact, I will begin with my dance rehearsals once I am done shooting in Hyderabad.” Also accompanying Aftab to create a sizzling chemistry on-stage will be his ‘Acid Factory’ co-stars and the once-upon-a-time ‘Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai’ club dancer Dia Mirza, Bollywood’s handsome hunk Fardeen Khan and the charming Dino Morea.

But if you think this is all, well it is just the tip of the iceberg. IIFA which is considered to be the biggest international platform for Bollywood will see even the stars in a come-back mode shaking their hip at the Awards. The lover boy turned action hero Vivek Oberoi along with chocolate boy Zayed Khan is all set to unveil his upcoming film ‘Mission Istanbul’ by staging live performances on some of the best tracks from the Apoorva Lakhia movie.

And last but not the least, though Priyanka Chopra may not get into the ‘Don’ mode, her debutant boyfriend Harman Baweja will perform at the evening. Elaborating on the same, Harman said, “My act will be unveiled in a very interesting manner unlike other performances. I will be dancing to a track from my film ‘ Love Story 2050’ titled ‘Milo Ya Na Milo ’ . The number has been specially choreographed by Shaimak Davar. In fact Shaimak is taking special interest in my IIFA act and has been calling from US every single day and has been enquiring about my rehearsal.”

Rohit Going Great Guns In a New Role

Rohit Roy's new avatar as a talk-show host on Zoom has him excited like never before. "We shot seven episodes with two sets of guests each in three days. That's some kind of a record. I'm getting whoever I want without having to run from pillar to post. That makes me feel very reassured. I've always been a Sanjay Dutt fan. After the show I've become an even bigger fan. We all thought we'd have to wait long for him to arrive for the recording. But he actually arrived 15 minutes early. No one has been moody or temperamental with me."

Says Rohit, "I'm interacting with the best talents in the business and learning from them. Can you imagine I got a chance to interview Naseeruddin Shah and Tabu together? One is a completely trained actor. The other is absolutely untrained. And yet they are such monuments. I've already worked with Naseerbhai in my short-film Rice Plate. Now I want to work with Tabu."

Besides the guests already mentioned, Rohit has recorded episodes with directors Sanjay Gupta-Madhur Bhandarkar, father-daughter Mahesh Bhatt-Pooja Bhatt, best friends Koena Mitra-Tanushree Dutta, Dino Morea-Neha Dhupia, and Sharmila Tagore-Nagesh Kukunoor.

"I walk away from every episode of Inside Bollywood With Rohit Roy with something new."

Jhamu Sughand Passes Away

“For everything there is a season, like for everything there is a reason
For every break down there is a build up;
For every tear, there is a smile;
For every silence, there is a time to speak;
For every hate, there is a time for love
For every war, there is a time for peace
But for every Jhamu Sughand, there is …………

It is the fact of Bollywood that everything else can be replaced but not everyone. Jhamu Sughand happens to be one such man. It is indeed shocking to even think about it, but then, the fact remains that the inevitable has just happened. Bollywood's most prolific Producer Jhamu Sughandh, is no more. He embraced death in Juhu Hospital today at around 11.20am, due to brain haemorrhage.

Jhamu was responsible for producing films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Aks, Filhaal, Kaal Purush etc.

KJO ready to Mingle at 36

Post 35, admits dandy director Karan Johar, birthdays don’t hold much importance for him. So there was no elaborate celebration today when Karan turned 36.

“I feel old, at least mentally. I am not so excited as I used to be earlier. There’s a very settling feeling at this point in life,” says KJO. He accepted wishes from friends last night, attended Jodhaa-Akbar’s success celebrations, and then went to party with his closests friends. “I wanted the party to be at a restaurant and not somebody’s house and we did that,” says Karan who’s busy with pre-production work on his next film, My Name is Khan.

“My 36th birthday is full of challenges. It’s a new phase of my life. I have many wishes up my sleeve. This year I will have maximum releases and I will launch my SRK starrer towards the end of the year,” says the birthday boy whose most memorable birthday was his 25th on the sets of his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. “It was in Ooty and we were shooting in a summer camp with many children, my parents and best friends Shah Rukh and Kajol. It was so much fun. It felt like a real birthday with all those children around,” he says.

And his wish for himself, today, “I seriously want to be in a relationship this year. Last 35 years I had nobody in my life, I was so caught up with my career. But now, I have decided, I will at least be in a relationship. And I am serious about it.”

New Item Boy Of Bollywood---Fardeen Khan

Our Bollywood heroes are all out to prove that they can do everything that their female counterparts can do better. So we had the best of them, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, doing an item number each for the film Krazzy 4 recently. Amitabh Bachchan, of course, got there before with the number 'One Love'. The latest to join the bandwagon is none other than Fardeen Khan.

Fardeen, who is on a comeback trail with his latest film Jai Veeru, is believed to be doing one of those item dances along with co stars Kunal Khemu and Mahek Chhel. The number is believed to have all the hatches and makes of our filmy dances and according to reports, Fardeen seems to be having a blast doing the number. The actor, who needs a hit desperately, will be hoping that the number makes it big along with the film. It would go a long way in bolstering his sagging career. Post his marriage, Fardeen's career seems to be headed no where. He has hardly any films in hand. But now the actor seems to be ready to get back into action. He has started loosing the weight that he had put on and is back to facing the cameras.

Shahid Kapoor to have a New Look

While actors are at their experimental best these days, Shahid Kapoor will not be left behind. After his stellar performance in Jab We Met, the actor is super-charged and willing to go any distance to get into the skin of the character.

Shahid, we hear, will be opting for a new long-haired look for his upcoming project, a musical, to be directed by Ken Ghosh. It can be remembered that it was Ghosh's debut film Ishq Vishq that also marked Shahid's Bollywood beginnings. Ken and Shahid, then got together again for Fida, a film that also starred Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

When we got in touch with Ken to find out more about the UTV venture, he confirmed, "Yes, we're working on the project and Shahid is indeed going to look a bit different. He's working on his physical appearance and will do as the character and script demands."

While Ken refuses to divulge any further details, we learn that this is a musical more on the lines of the larger than life Broadway musical. About Shahihd's long hair, well, the actor had first sported long hair for a TV commercial of a soap detergent way back in 2001. So much for hair raising stories?

SRK is waxed in Paris

It's general knowledge that the English in India and other foreign countries is 'Same-Same but different'. In the sense, in India, we say 'Cat', whereas they say it's 'Kat'. Here we say, 'cheque', they say 'chek', so on and so forth! But there's one name to which not only India, but the whole of the Universe abides by and shall abide till eternity and that's 'Shah Rukh Khan'!

The latest 'victim' of the SRK mania was Paris, a city which experienced a never-before mayhem. The reason? Well, SRK was in France for the unveiling of his wax statue at the Grevin Museum. His wife Gauri Khan and Karan Johar accompanied him.

If you thought that SRK will be a stand-alone in the museum, better think again, coz' he has company from the likes of Marylyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and around 300 odd celebrities. SRK now becomes the third Indian at the museum, the first two being Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi.

Is there anything left for you to accomplish, Mr. Khan? True that 'Impossible Is Nothing'.

Padmini Kolhapure to comeback with her Daughter

Padmini Kolhapure, who entered films as a child actor and later went on to give quite a few hits, is all set for a comeback of sorts with 'Daughter' and the actress says returning to movies was a natural choice.

'I have always been associated with acting from a very young age. I took a break because I wanted to have a family of my own. Now that my son has grown up, what else could I return to but acting?' Kolhapure told in an interview.

The actress, who married producer Tutu Sharma at the peak of her career, did make a brief return to films with 'Souten' in 2006, but it didn't do too well.

Kolhapure says she chose Visu Mane's small-budget film 'Daughter' because the character really appealed to her.

'My character is ...interesting. I play a married, working woman who doesn't want to have children for the sake of her career. Upset with her decision, her father-in-law adopts a baby girl. She gradually develops motherly feelings towards the baby and then wants to start her own family,' the actress explained.

She said the story highlights the 'necessity of adopting a girl child'.

'Being a woman, I know how much cheer a girl brings to a family.'

Kajol accused of being Choosy

Though hubby Ajay Devgan's directorial debut, U ME AUR HUM, may not have been a commercial success, yet, as mostly, Kajol has uniformly walked away with the accolades. In fact, even reviewers and audiences who did not like U ME AUR HUM are unanimous that Kajol is the saving grace of the movie.

Off late, Kajol has been accused of being over choosy, especially due to the uncertainty / delay regarding her signing Karan Johar's directorial venture with Shah Rukh Khan and also Raju Hirani's Aamir Khan Project. Kajol honestly admits that she is too picky as an actress. But in the same breath adds that if Mira Nair (SALAAM BOMBAY, MONSOON WEDDING etc.) offers her a comedy, she would gladly grab it without a second thought.

Well, we must confess that we agree totally with what one of Kajol's closest friend revealed last year (please do not ask us to disclose the name!) - What is interesting about Kajol is that she is capable of making statements that you do not expect from her at all!

Bollywood beauties bowled over by Dhoni's Charm

Indian One-Day cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's performance on the pitch and his good looks have earned him a huge female fan following, among them a bevy of Bollywood actresses. Here's what they say:

Bipasha Basu: Dhoni is great at his job and he is a good ambassador of our country. He is well groomed and I find him soft-spoken and charming. And I don't think he uses his popularity for the wrong reasons.

Esha Deol: Yup, I'd say Dhoni is terrific and he conducts himself with plenty of dignity. Right now I think he's at his best - physically fit and raring to go. I'd say he is the best sportsman in our country today.

Nandana Sen: Dhoni has great focus, speaks his mind freely. Although he is super-talented, he talks like a very regular guy. I find normalcy in superstars very attractive.

Raima Sen: Cricketers have always been more popular than stars. I feel Dhoni's main charm lies in the fact that he has become the captain of the Indian cricket team at such a young age. And then he brought the (Twenty20) Cup home. That did the trick. Success is the greatest aphrodisiac. It sure has added sex appeal to Dhoni's personality. And let's not forget his hip hairstyle. Wow!

Kangana Ranaut: I think Dhoni is hot enough to give any of our studs from Bollywod a run for their money. And since Dhoni can run faster than any of them, he has an extra edge. Of course, I find him hot. Which normal hot-blooded girl wouldn't?

Minissha Lamba: In any industry, whether it is cinema or cricket, we need to focus on people's achievements rather than wonder how far their sex appeal goes. Success is sexy. And everyone has the right to look his best. But physical beauty shouldn't be allowed to eclipse the value of his real personality or the fact that he has put the country on the international sports map.

Mona Singh: I find Dhoni super hot. He not only looks good but plays well too. And he is a superb captain.

Divya Dutta: Oh, I find Dhoni very hot, specially his passion for living on the edge, not playing safe or getting tense while taking crucial decisions. He is so full of energy. And he is a fabulous cricketer. Of course, the bare chest is the icing on the cake.

Gul Panag: Dhoni? Ha! He's a heady mix of good looks, success and power.

Amrita Arora: Yes, he's hot, but only as a player, please. His good personality teamed with being an excellent player makes him a force to reckon with.

Perizaad Zorabian: The fact that Dhoni comes from a small town and has beaten all odds to make it big makes him very sexy. He comes across as determined, calm, confident and no-nonsense. He takes pride in who he is. These qualities make him stand apart in a world of self-promoting wannabes.

How stars would like to celebrate their Holi-Day

Shabana Azmi: "It would be as usual an open house for friends and family for Holi at my parents' home in Janki Kutir. There will be a generous flow of non-toxic colours, gana-bajaana and khana…a long-standing tradition in our house as part of India's ganga-jumna tehzeeb.

Urmila Matondkar: "I'll be working on Holi-day. So no Holi for me."

Shefali Shah: "My husband Vipul and I will be having a get-together at home. We'll have close friends over. Lots of food, bhang, out-of-tune karaoke, dumb charade…and lots and lots of laughter.

Tusshar Kapoor: "I stopped playing Holi years back. But this year I'll have to attend the Holi bash specially arranged for my new film 123."

Malaika Arora: "I won't be playing Holi this year as I'm holidaying in Dubai"

Nandana Sen: "On Holi day I'll be traveling back from Khajuraho to Mumbai. I'll be coming home just for a day. I'll be sad missing Holi, though. It's my absolute favourite among the Holidays in our calendar.

Manoj Bajpai: "I don't celebrate Holi. I hate being dirty with colour and mud."

Riya Sen: "I'm not sure I'll be playing Holi or not. It'd depend on my mood."

Koena Mitra: "I haven't played Holi during the last few years. This year I might go for a Holi bash being hosted by a dear friend. Since it's inside the house and only close friends are invited it'd be safe. I'll therefore go."

Amrita Arora: "I'll be at home on holi. Who wants to step out?" Celina Jaitley: "I'm shooting on the day before Holi, so no masti. But I'll definitely put gulaal on my buddies

Ravi Kissan: "Arrey bhaiya, making bhang with my own hands and giving it to friends. That's my pleasure for Holi that no one can take away."

Anuraag Sinha: "This is my first Holi right after the release of my first film Black & White. I'm going to freak out with friends and family

Mahesh Bhatt: "22nd March happens to be the day my friend and mentor U.G Krishnamurthy died. I don't play Holi. I'm going to Bangalore to release a book of mine that's been translated into Kannada.

Jiah Khan: "I'm shooting, and I can't play Holi. I'd have loved to get splashed in colour! Holi is one of the most beautiful festivals of our country and it symbolizes our zest for fun.

Aryan Vaid: "I'm not a big fan of Holi I'll be in Pune with friends, considering it's a long weekend.
