Neha Dhupia Shocks the World

Neha Dhupia seems to have become very choosy now.

The actress who was mostly seen in hardcore masala films is now seen in hatke movies like Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local and Mithya , but her experiments don’t stop here. She has bigger and better films in her kitty this year.

The actress will be seen in Via Darjeeling that will see her working with the Rajat Kapoor-Vinay Pathak team once again. The actress even admits that she is now very comfortable with the entire unit.

“Initially they used to tease me for doing masala films, but that actually helped break the ice. Now things are so much comfortable. Plus, these films have made me realise that I enjoy doing comedies and have given me the confidence to experiment with my roles. Of course I am seeing a lot of Rajat and Vinay on the sets, but they are great to work with. I have surprised myself,” says Neha.

RASHOMON-Yet again an Inspiration

In the years gone by, many films internationally have drawn inspiration from Japanese classic RASHOMON which was directed by Akira Kurosawa. Even though the film was made more than 50 years, it has intrigued film makers from the past and present generation. One such film maker is first time director Nandy who has based his upcoming film VIA DARJEELING on RASHOMON.

The film follows the pattern of 'one story, multiple endings' and is a psychological thriller set in modern day Calcutta and Darjeeling. The film's plot is centered on Kay Kay Menon and Sonali Kulkarni who play a newly wed couple on their honeymoon in Darjeeling. However, on the eve of their return to Calcutta, Kay Kay disappears. An Inspector tries to get to the root but isn't successful.

Later when the story is narrated to a bunch of friends, each of them tries to come up with his/her own interpretation around what would have happened on that fateful evening. Result is numerous theories around possible outcomes and different versions that follow.

Apart from Kay Kay Menon and Sonali Kulkarni, the film stars Parvin Dabbas, Vinay Pathak, Simone Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Prashanth Narayanan and Sandhya Mridul. Produced by Joy Ganguly of Moxie Entertainments, VIA DARJEELING is aiming for a 20th June release.

About RASHOMON
In ancient Japan, a woman is raped and her husband killed. The film gives us four viewpoints of the incident - one for each defendant - each revealing a little more detail. Which version, if any, is the real truth about what happened? The film is a Japanese crime drama that is produced with both philosophical and psychological overtones. An episode (rape and murder) in a forest is reported by four witnesses, each from their own point of view. Who is telling the truth? What is truth?
