Maliaka -Arbaaz Controversy taught them a Lesson

Much newsprint has been spent on the recent Arbaaz Khan-Malaika Arora Khan divorce fiasco, and the drama continues. At a press conference for Arbaaz's upcoming film, Woodstock Villa, the actor seemed visibly upset with the media for the ad's debacle. This is what he had to say:

There is no real story behind the whole thing. It was just a re-launch of a product by Ponds that Malaika and I were endorsing. The intension behind their marketing strategy was to tell people that their product is so good that it makes you to propose again to your spouse.

A certain segment of the media misinterpreted it and that led to the controversy. They thought I had split with Malaika and will be remarrying someone else. But it was just that I was renewing my vows with Malaika during the product launch.

It was highly irresponsible of those people to assume what they did and publish it. They should not publish anything without getting their facts right. If you are carrying front page news in a leading daily, it is only fair that you do your homework and find out the truth. When the reporters from the publication asked me about the issue, I asked them why they were so impatient. If there Malaika and I have problems, you will know in due course of time.

There is nothing wrong if I did not deny the news. That very evening, when the truth came out, they hit us where it hurts the most -- integrity and image. They called it a publicity stunt and a promotional gimmick. They called us cheats and media hounds. How dare they call us that? By this, who has been eventually affected? Malaika and I.

Ponds did what it wanted and the media did what it wanted. The ultimate sufferers are only us.

My son is only five years old and does not even know how to read to write. He does not know what happened.

But we have learnt a lot and will be very careful henceforth.

Arbaaz puzzled to see thrie marriage matter on front page

Arbaaz and Malaika Khan's rather ugly run-in with the monstrous after-shocks of over-exuberant product-marketing seems to have left the Khan family deeply affected. Known to be deeply conservative the Khans are extremely upset with Malaika and Arbaaz. "They feel it was wrong that we should've let them read about our little campaign instead of taking the family into confidence. In fact my parents clearly said, 'If we knew you two were going to be part of such a gimmick we'd have never allowed you to.' I never thought I'd ever get into something that would turn so ugly," sighs Arbaaz.

So far the Khan family has one child as a favourite child of controversy. "Salman doesn't care what is written about him. I'm not that kind of a guy. I'm very particular about the way I conduct myself especially about my marriage. Suddenly, I find myself fighting a lonely battle to redeem my wife and my image."

To compound the Khans' problems the multi-national company which conceived and implemented the queer campaign has completely washed its hands off the matter….a direct echo of what happened to the Roshans when the cell-phone company which goofed up in its communication system with the copyright ownership issue of Ram Sampat's tune decided to steer clear of their celebrity clients' troubles. "It's not just my name that's being affected, it's my wife's name too, and that I won't tolerate," Arbaaz says angrily days after the media reacted violently to the couple's gimmicky marital-discord campaign that hit the headlines last week.

Says Arbaaz, "My wife and I have been called publicity hounds and our little child has also been dragged into the matter when all we did was to go along with the multi-national's campaign. Is compliance a crime? Then we're guilty. And I apologize. I'm not the kind of a guy who gets defensive after doing something goes wrong. And this situation has definitely gone wrong."

What Arbaaz cannot fathom is why a section of the media chose to highlight the false story on a marriage breakup. "Neither Malaika nor I ever said we were splitting. It was the cosmetic company which put out a yarn about me re-marrying. From there some media persons let their imagination run riot. Since when is our marriage a matter of front-page interest?"

Malaika and Abraaz Split was a Publicity Stunt

Contrary to reports, the marriage of Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora is going strong and the story is a publicity gimmick for a skin cream advertisement.

As is reported, "It's a publicity gimmick. The split rumors are from a skin cream advertisement, which Malaika and Arbaaz will endorse together."
The ad will show how the love has gone from their marriage and how they renew it again with the skincream. They will have four phases and weddings, where Arbaaz and Malaika will renew their marriage vows

It was further revealed that parents of Arbaaz and Malaika were very upset and disturbed at the stories about their split. They had to spend the whole morning clarifying with family and friends that the story was not true.

Priyanka Chopra and cricketer Sreesanth were also part of a publicity stunt recently for a soap brand, where tapes of their 'private conversation' had been released.

Malaika to break up with Arbaaz

Malaika Arora Khan and husband Arbaaz Khan are reportedly heading for a divorce.

The news came as a surprise to many, who considered their 10-year marriage to be quite solid. The couple has a son, Arhaan.

Reasons for the split are not know yet.

After his acting debut in Daraar, Arbaaz's career did not take off. He has been seen since in small roles, the latest being Apoorva Lakia's Shootout At Lokhandwala.

Malaika, on the other hand, has become quite successful post her sizzling item numbers, from Dil Se's Chaiya Chaiya to Welcome's Hoth Rasiley.

When a television channel, Live India, asked the couple about the divorce, Arbaaz and Malaika neither confirmed nor refuted the news.

"It was my private life and I would not like to discuss it in public," Arbaaz told Live India, adding, "Life is uncertain and no one knows what will happen tomorrow."

Malaika seemed to be shaken when she spoke to the channel. "It is too personal and I would like to keep quiet on this issue," she said.

When reminded that keeping quiet on such issues indicates trouble, Malaika said, "I believe silence is golden."

The news comes as a surprise especially at a time when Malaika and Arbaaz are getting ready for their Kannada film together, Shaadi Ke Side Effects. The film, which is about marriage and infidelity, sees Malaika in her first lead role. One wonders if the news of the divorce at this time is a kind of promotion for their film.
